Once you have completed treatment here at Just Orthodontics, you will then be required to wear an orthodontic retainer. A retainer is a custom-made appliance (that can either be removable or fixed to the back on your teeth) to help ensure your teeth maintain their new position after your braces have been removed.
Retainers are used to hold your teeth straight as a follow up after your treatment. They are important because they reduce the risk of teeth going crooked again.
We recommend that they are worn every night for a minimum of one year - however to achieve the best long terms results, we do suggest that they are worn on a long term basis as teeth can move throughout life. We will also recommend the most appropriate type of retainer for your individual needs.
To note - retainers do require replacing from time to time, usually at a charge. Please ask a member of our team for further details.
